MIDNIGHT TALES

A work-in-progress horror play

What is a work-in-progress play?

Monday Night Marsh provides a marvelous opportunity for playwrights/directors/performers to workshop a section of their play for an audience. Each Monday showcases three different work-in-progress pieces.

I’m super excited to stage another 20 minute segment from my play “Midnight Tales” for Monday Night Marsh at The Marsh theater (1062 Valencia Street, San Francisco) April 6th and 20th, 2026 (doors 6:30, show 7pm).

Now let me tell you a bit about the play! Midnight Tales is a play inspired by the grand guignol horror plays of the late 1800s through the 1960s, anthology horror films like those from Amicus Productions of the 1960s-70s, and historical stories like Grimms’ Fairy Tales.

It’s a collection of modern dark fables guided by a mysterious Storyteller — a figure who can only speak during the witching hour, midnight to one a.m. Horror is a thrilling playground for both storytelling and stagecraft, rooted in reality, but laced through by the supernatural and a touch of dark fantasy.
